On the evening of September 23, on the Atbasar–Kiima highway near the village of Ashykol, a Volkswagen Golf and a Lada Granta collided.
As a result of the accident, eight people were injured. Among them, a woman is in critical condition in the intensive care unit. An 11-year-old girl died from her injuries before the ambulance arrived.
Three more children — born in 2016, 2017, and 2023 — were initially taken to the Atbasar hospital. Later, they were transported by air ambulance to Kokshetau, to the Akmola Regional Children’s Hospital. In addition, a girl from the village of Sergeevka was reported to be in serious condition: doctors diagnosed a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures.
According to the press service of the Akmola region Police Department, a pre-trial investigation has been launched. Law enforcement officials urge drivers not to exceed speed limits and to carefully monitor the technical condition of their vehicles.
